Ok friends, this blog post is several days overdue because this remarkable occurrence happened last week, I just haven’t had time to do my due diligence and actually blog about it.
SO, I am officially a member of the Oiselle Flock!!
If you have absolutely no clue what this means, WELL. You are clearly not as running-obsessed as I am. Allow me to enlighten you.
Oiselle is a women’s running apparel company that has taken the running community by storm. With elite athlete endorsements from the likes of Kara Goucher and Lauren Fleshman, it’s basically impossible for any female who even likes to run a LITTLE bit to NOT want to be involved with this company.
You can read the full philosophy behind the Flock here, but I’ll give you the general gist: Upon starting the company, Oiselle founder Sally Bergesen began recruiting local women who loved to run and compete to support her initiative and act as the first “community” behind Oiselle. As the brand grew, applications from women who wanted to join the Oiselle team flooded in from all across the country. Eventually, the company had to limit membership numbers due to sheer volume, and only open up very small windows of opportunity to join.
Well, my good friend Angie alerted me of the most recent opportunity to become a member of the Flock, which happened to be last Wednesday at noon. Needless to say, we were both pretty stoked about the potential chance to be a part of the Oiselle Flock, and we were posted up at our computers during our lunch hour waiting for the chance. It was a crazy few minutes — the Oiselle website was absolutely FLOODED with Flock wannabes and it crashed completely for about 15 minutes.
FINALLY, both Angie and I were able to get into the website and secure our membership! It was a painful 18 minutes or so, but by 12:20 p.m. the deal was done and we had both secured membership to the Flock! Our race singlets should be arriving any day now, and I can promise you that we will wear them proudly in ALL of our upcoming events!
Oiselle did a great job of making me feel totally and completely welcomed when my membership was finalized. By the following morning, I had received an email invite to the private Facebook group, as well as a welcome email with links to the team’s Strava, Twitter and Gametime pages. So stellar, right? Right.
Ok well, I just cried my eyes out to the end of “No Strings Attached” and now “A Walk to Remember” has come on soooooo, either I get up and find the channel changer OR we’re going to be in for a real sob-fest tonight. Sweet dreams!
